Overview

As technical lead on a UNICEF-led national digital health assessment, we reviewed several national health information systems against international standards: function, operating efficiency, scale, interoperability, and security and privacy.

• •Set out short-, medium-, and long-term plans with costs

How we worked

• •Reviewed function, ease of use, and efficiency across several systems
• •Checked whether the data design was sound and whether systems could work together
• •Compared security and privacy measures with international standards
• •Made recommendations from the evidence

Outcome

Provided a documented basis for national decisions, and a clear plan for later system work.

Planned in stages — short term (stable operation), medium term (links and standards), long term (growth and tuning) — balancing cost and what could be built.
